Pelosi Spills the Beans

"TWO HEARTBEATS AWAY – Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi could wind up as the House speaker if Democrats win a majority in the upcoming election, making her second in the line of succession to the presidency. Lesley Stahl profiles Pelosi. Karen Sughrue is the producer."

I watched the interview with Pelosi on 60 Minutes (CBS). She is an attractive, down to earth, approachable person, in spite of the fact she is referred to as tough as nails. The interviewer made the point again and again that she was a mother of 5 and grandmother of 5. I liked her. She didn't have that hardened look to her. She didn't appear jaded by her political career. I was won over. Until the final line of her interview.

She said that her goal was to end up with the Dems in control and then, then, she would veto everything Bush sent down. Talk about the air escaping the balloon.

I thought politics was about good policies? Has it come to a mere veto anything Bush or is it veto anything Republican? It isn't suppose to be that way. Dems are suppose to balance the Republicans. Like a good marriage. Or a good friendship. One veers too far north, the other too far south, but somehow you end up balancing each other out. Isn't politics suppose to work the same way?

Not if you ask Pelosi. Her goal is to use her time and energy to spite Bush by vetoeing all his efforts. The interviewer briefly touched on her plans to push for impeachment but she backpeddled.

So now I understand what the elections in a few days means. It's not about balance or making good policies for the betterment of our country. It's about domination and control and spiteful actions. The agenda of the Dems seems about as anti-American as it gets.
