If the Islams utilize this significant and historical day then, yes, we may see the end of the world. Skeptical? Cynical? Join the crowd. Somehow, I don't think it will take a holy day for someone to want to strike out. Take this morning as case in point. If they do unleash on 8/22/06, I will print a retraction right here.
I have plans for that day, though. My nephews and dh's birthday falls then. I won't be looking for anything but b'day cake. Yes, I will cheat on that day for sure! :-)
